Chelsea can move to within three points away from being crowned Premier League champions, if the table-toppers beat Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday.
Last Sunday, Chelsea played out a goalless draw with Arsenal at the Emirates stadium which moved them that tad closer to being crowned champions of England for the first time in five years.
Against Arsenal, chants were sung claiming that Chelsea play ‘boring football’. At the King Power, Chelsea have the chance to turn up the heat, against relegation threatened Leicester. In the last five meetings between these two clubs, the West London club have come out victorious each time.
Nigel Pearson’s side are fighting for survival so therefore won’t it won’t be an easy test for Chelsea tonight. With a win tonight, Leicester City can rise to four points clear of the drop zone, with four games to go. The hosts have hit form right at the best time. If they beat Chelsea, they’ll have recorded five straight top-flight wins for the first time since 1964.
Team News:
Leicester are leaving it late to find out if David Nugent, Jamie Vardy and Jeff Schlupp will be fit for the game. Both Nugent and Schlupp missed Leicester’s game on the weekend as they ran out 0-1 winners at Burnley. Jamie Vardy scored the winner at Turf Moor, but the English striker was only available for selection after receiving an injection in his foot, to take the pain away. Chris Wood makes the squad for the hosts after returning from his loan spell at Ipswich.
For Chelsea, Diego Costa could return for Jose Mourinho tonight, after missing the past four games with a hamstring injury. In his press conference, the Chelsea boss said he would be leaving his decision to the last minute regarding the Spanish international, who’s season has been badly effected by injuries.
After his collision with Ospina in the London derby, Oscar could be withdrawn from the squad. French striker Loic Remy has been confirmed as out.
