For Chelsea, the remaining part of the season is simple. Take each game as it comes and they take strides towards the Premier League title. The previous meeting between these two sides ended in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, thanks to a late equaliser from Robin Van Persie. Mike Dean will be the official for game on Saturday night. You can see the game live on Sky Sports for Saturday Night Football, kick off is 5:30pm.
Since that game back in October, Manchester United have endured a mix season but look to have found the right formula. A resurgent United have won six out of their last six games. Chelsea also go into the game in good form. The Blues have not lost since New Year’s Day and have won four out of their last six games.
The last time these two sides met at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea ran out comfortable leaders thanks to a hat trick from Samuel Eto’o. That game finished 3-1 to the home side.
Team news
This week marks big news that Chelsea fans will be relieved to hear, the total number of yellow cards players have accumulated has this week been reset to zero. Both Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas were just one yellow card away from a suspension.
Chelsea will be without Diego Costa who looks set to be the only long term absentee. Chelsea are hopeful that Loic Remy will be fit to start after pulling out of the squad to face his former side QPR last weekend.
For the away side, United could have both Robin Van Persie and Luke Shaw return from injury, however both look doubtful to start. Michael Carrick is likely to under-go a late fitness test after suffering an injury late in the Manchester Derby. Carrick has been influential since his return and is likely to retain his place in the starting line-up.
Predictions
I am predicting a tight game at Stamford Bridge. With no need for Mourinho to chase a victory, I imagine a controlled performance from the Blue’s. My prediction for the game is for it to finish 1-1, Juan Mata scoring for United and Eden Hazard to score for the home side.
