Yoshinori Moto represented Japan in the Asia Cup during January. The twenty two year old has also gone on to impress in the new J League season. Muto has scored three goals in four appearances for FC Tokyo, leaving them third in the table. As well as this, Muto scored thirteen goals last season and was named into the J-League’s Best XI.
A spokesman from the club has confirmed the bid. “It is true that we have received an official offer from Chelsea for Muto. But nothing has been decided.” The news comes just weeks after Chelsea announced a new sponsorship deal with the Japanese based, Yokohama Rubber Company. The bid made for the striker is believed to in the region of around £4m.
With Chelsea also looking set to compete in an end of season tour in Japan, a deal for the striker would help to increase the fan base across Japan. Muto also confirmed the bid and this is what he had to say to the Japanese press: “I’m honoured to receive an offer from this wonderful team, but I have not made any decision yet.”
