Championship side Reading have tonight confirmed the loan signing of Chelsea youth product, Nathan Ake. It will be a one-month loan deal, which will expire on April 22nd.
Despite signing for Chelsea back in 2011, the Dutch U21 defender has only made four league appearances for the former European champions.
Ake appeared for Chelsea twice in their Europa League cup run back in 2013, playing against Rubin Kazan and FC Basel. He and Chelsea then went on to win the cup, winning back to back European titles.
Nathan was then voted as Chelsea FC’s young player of the year for 2013. He appeared for the first time in the BPL in a 2-1 win over Everton, playing the full 90 minutes.
After playing well in the first team, Nathan Ake penned a new five year deal at the club which would keep him at The Bridge until 2018.
Reading currently sit in 19th in the Championship, 9 points off the relegation spots. Steve Clarke will hope Ake will fit in well into his experienced backline and will hope to avoid the drop and get into the FA Cup final.
