The younger brother of Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Thorgan has today completed a move to the German Bundesliga side, Borussia Mochengladbach. Hazard has spent the first half of the season on loan in the Bundesliga and has impressed.
Hazard has made twenty five appearances in all competitions this season and joins on a five year deal. Borussia currently sit 3rd in the Bundesliga table.
The deal comes as shock to many, Hazard was thought to be one of the brightest talents around Chelsea. The concept of having the two Hazard brothers on the same pitch was one, many Chelsea fans around the world were looking forward to.
No fee has yet to be announced, but Sky Sources have confirmed that the deal does include a future buy back fee. Chelsea released a small statement on their website, which included this quote: “Chelsea Football Club wishes Thorgan well for the future and will continue to monitor his progress.”
Borrussia’s sporting director Max Eberl had this to say: “We are delighted that we have managed to sign him and that he has decided to play for Borussia in the next few years.”
The decision to include a future buy back fee, could suggest we may still see Thorgan play for Chelsea, with the permanent deal aiding his development. The young Belgium star has settled into life in Germany, but we will ever see him at Stamford Bridge?
