Anderlecht have today announced the signing of Chelsea winger Marko Marin on loan for the remainder of this season. The German winger had been on loan in the Serie A, playing for Fiorentina. The deal was cut short after the German winger failed to live up to expectations after only making four appearances, scoring two goals in the process.
The deal includes an option for the Belgium side to buy Marin in the summer, it is expected this will depend on his performances between now and the end of the season. Marin joined Chelsea in 2012 from German outfit Werder Bremen for £7 million and spend last season on loan at Spanish side Sevilla. Whilst at Sevilla he made thirty appearances, scoring two goals over the course of his loan spell.
Marin has only made six first team appearances for Chelsea, scoring one goal. Anderlecht becomes his third loan move and his days at Stamford Bridge look to be numbered. Marin will be hoping to impress during his time in Belgium, Fiorentina also had the option of a permanent deal but chose not to pursue the German.
